Description: Influenced by indigenous art from the American NorthWest Coast, I made a clay version of a Transformation Dance Mask (traditionally carved in wood). Assorted lines of text about transformation blanket the background board. The concept of Transformation pervades many of the NorthWest Coast indigenous cultures’ beliefs, rites and festivals that underlie the challenging and often provocative changes tribal communities must undergo as they manage their altered environments.
