Description: Traditional etching is done by coating a metal plate with a liquid resist. Once it hardens, the artist draws with a sharp burin that incises through the resist coating. The plate is soaked in an acid bath that etches into the metal. Final marks are determined by their depth, width and time in the acid bath. This can be repeated with added changes in layers. Solar Plate Etching achieves the etching process into the metal plate without using dangerous acid, making it ideal for school use. The plate is then inked and printed in the traditional manner. This process really suited my quirky images of many Shaman and watching eyes.
