Description:  This is a wheel-thrown bowl, stained, under-painted and glazed in one spot with an unexpected “jewel” where it was “kissed” by a neighboring pot in the firing kiln. I thought at first that the bowl was ruined, then realized this special event was “wabi sabi” (Zen philosophy of appreciating imperfection in handmade objects). I now cherish the “Happy Accident.”
