Description: Scars do not always show on the outside… The long and armed reach of governments and of the powers behind them have maintained an up-side-down relationship to people of color for the last 400+ years. Forces that are in control have violently fractured the body, mind, spirit: the dignity, community, education and the total HUMANITY of those they oppress.
In this work, I feel that the intimacy of a single portrait; a lone man with a fractured cranium would be more compelling than a large and complex composition; it could be a portrait of each of us.
