Description:  A firewood log found at a garden nursery had the most intricate bark. Making a close-up photograph of the log, then printing its enlarged image on matte paper and drawing the multitudes of people I’d envisioned on top of it with ink and ink wash, produced my original drawing/painting of my “Ancestor Spirits.”.

Found later: an old frame with an oval opening. The flat front side was uninteresting, but the reverse, where an earlier canvas had been attached and ripped away, was truly mysterious and evocative; that became the ideal “frame”for my “Ancestor Spirits All Around Us.”
